The Shire of Morawa gives public notice of its intention to enter into a Major Land Transaction relating to the development and lease of the Morawa Early Childhood Education and Family Centre, located at Lot 409 (No.26) Prater Street, Morawa.

Please be advised the entrance to the Morawa Greater Sports Ground is currently closed due to a fallen power pole. Western Power has been contacted and the area will remain closed until further notice while the situation is assessed and made safe. Further updates will be provided when more information is available. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Morawa proposes to close Burton Road to public access for the period from Thursday, 1 October 2026 to Thursday, 31 December 2026.

The Shire of Morawa advises the Shire Administration Office and Depot will be closed for the King’s birthday long weekend public holiday on Monday, 28 September 2026. The refuse and transfer station will remain open as per normal operating hours.

The Shire of Morawa advises the Shire Administration Office will be closing early at 2.00pm on Friday, 18 September 2026 due to staff training.

Morawa has experienced an unexpected disruption to scheme water this week due to a power failure at the Arrowsmith Water Treatment Plant, which temporarily stopped water production. This was not a planned outage. To maintain supply, Water Corporation has been carting water into Morawa while crews work to restore normal operations and rebuild tank levels. Town tanks are now back to levels that can meet local demand, and Water Corporation expects supply to remain stable while tankering continues. If you experience a loss of water supply, please contact Water Corporation’s Faults and Emergencies team on 13 13 75.

We have been advised by Water Corp that as part of minor upgrades of the Billeranga Water Tank, the town scheme water supply will experience a temporary water interruption on Tuesday 29 September 2026 from 6am- 6pm. If available please switch over to the use of your water tanks for that period. You may also notice discoloured water in the days following the outage. A change in the direction that water flows through pipes can stir up sediment, which makes the water look discoloured. Please be assured the water is still safe to use.

There has been a heavy vehicle crash on the Morawa-Yalgoo road Tuesday the 8th September 2026. The road is subject to traffic management. Please drive with caution and consider alternative routes.

Fire Weather District Boundaries have been changed as part of updates to the Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS) to simplify and streamline the way community members are kept informed about the risk in their local area. Morawa is located in the North Midlands Fire Weather District, and the Emergency WA app has been updated to reflect the changes. Notice is hereby given that a Virtual Audit, Risk and Improvement Meeting (E-Meeting) will be held at the Shire of Morawa, 26 Winfield Street, Morawa on Wednesday 12 August 2026, commencing at 6.00pm.

Mosquito Fogging will take place within the town centre on Wednesday 5th August 2026 from 3.30pm- 5.30pm. Please ensure all windows and doors are closed and that you remain inside while the mosquito fogging is taking place. Please be advised that mosquito fogging is scheduled to take place from Monday, 3 August 2026 within the Morawa town site. Please note that the exact dates and times will be confirmed and advertised early next week, as fogging operations are dependent on suitable weather conditions to ensure they are carried out safely and effectively.

Please be advised that roadwork's will be in place on the Wubin-Mullewa Road within the Morawa townsite for reticulation repairs from Monday 27 July- Friday 31 July 2026 7am-5pm. Traffic management will be in place and we ask all motorists to take care and follow all signage while works are being completed.

Please be advised that part of the Morawa-Yalgoo Road within the Yalgoo Shire is closed to HEAVY VEHICLES for road works until Friday the 24 July 2026. If you are a heavy vehicle travelling this road, you may need to review your route. More information can be found on the Shire of Yalgoo website.
