Fire Weather District Boundaries have been changed as part of updates to the Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS) to simplify and streamline the way community members are kept informed about the risk in their local area. Morawa is located in the North Midlands Fire Weather District, and the Emergency WA app has been updated to reflect the changes. Notice is hereby given that a Virtual Audit, Risk and Improvement Meeting (E-Meeting) will be held at the Shire of Morawa, 26 Winfield Street, Morawa on Wednesday 12 August 2026, commencing at 6.00pm.

Mosquito Fogging will take place within the town centre on Wednesday 5th August 2026 from 3.30pm- 5.30pm. Please ensure all windows and doors are closed and that you remain inside while the mosquito fogging is taking place. Please be advised that mosquito fogging is scheduled to take place from Monday, 3 August 2026 within the Morawa town site. Please note that the exact dates and times will be confirmed and advertised early next week, as fogging operations are dependent on suitable weather conditions to ensure they are carried out safely and effectively.

Please be advised that roadwork's will be in place on the Wubin-Mullewa Road within the Morawa townsite for reticulation repairs from Monday 27 July- Friday 31 July 2026 7am-5pm. Traffic management will be in place and we ask all motorists to take care and follow all signage while works are being completed.

Please be advised that part of the Morawa-Yalgoo Road within the Yalgoo Shire is closed to HEAVY VEHICLES for road works until Friday the 24 July 2026. If you are a heavy vehicle travelling this road, you may need to review your route. More information can be found on the Shire of Yalgoo website.

Please be advised that due to forecasted weather conditions ALL UNSEALED ROADS within the Shire of Morawa will be closed to ALL vehicles over 4.5 TONNES from 4.30pm Wednesday, 10 June 2026. Unsealed roads are to be reopened to ALL vehicles 6.00am Saturday, 13 June 2026. Road and weather conditions will be assessed before roads are officially re opened.

Please be advised that due to current weather conditions, all Shire of Morawa unsealed roads will be closed to vehicles OVER 4.5 TONNES from 9.30am Monday, 8 June 2026. Road conditions will be reviewed regularly.

In accordance with section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, the Shire of Morawa hereby gives notice of its intention to adopt the following differential rates for unimproved value on mining and rural land and differential minimum rates on unimproved rural land and unimproved mining land within the Shire in the 2026-2027 financial year.
