Cat and Dog Registration
All dogs over 3 months of age must be registered and wear a registration tag and a disc showing the owner’s name and address. Registrations are due on 31 October and can be obtained for a period of one year, three years or lifetime.
All dogs need to be Microchipped before registration.
All cats must be Sterilised and Microchipped before registration.

Proof of sterilisation is required at the time of registration. Applicants (owner of pets) must be over 18 years of age.
Reduced rates (50%) are available for Pensioner Concession Card holders.
Dog Owner Responsibilities
Dog owners have some definite legal responsibilities which are intended for the convenience of residents. Please:
- Attach the registration tag and dog’s identification tag to the collar.
- Don’t let the dog wander without proper control.
- Keep the animal generally quiet.
- Clean up after your pet in public places
- Dogs must be restrained on a leash in public places at all times.
A dog attack is a very serious matter. If your dog attacks a person or other animal, you will be held responsible, even if you were not there at the time. There are very substantial penalties of up to $10,000 and/ or 12 months jail for a dog attack or inciting a dog attack.
